Rant #2,888: Celebration!

Today is a very special day at the Ranting and Raving Blog.

I hope that you are all dressed to the nines--in your pajamas--and are ready to go today, because you are all invited to a party.

Since you are reading this entry, you are automatically on the exclusive guest list for one of the biggest parties of the year, certainly bigger than that phony Met gala that was held the other day for the rich among us to show off what they waste their vast amount of money on while New York City’s homeless are starving in the street.

Yes, this party is way bigger than that will ever be, because everyone is invited.

What party am I talking about?

Well, today is the 13th anniversary of the Ranting and Raving Blog, and you are all invited to its virtual “bar mitzvah.”

Yes, 13 years ago today, I decided to start this blog, basically to blow off my own steam on things that I wanted to write about.

I was being paid to write about things that I really wasn’t invested in, which was fine—I mean, unless we own our own cbusinesses, are we really that whole hog invested in what we are being paid to do?—and heck, that job put bread on my family’s table for nearly a quarter of a century.

But it was still frustrating to me to not to be able to write about what I wanted to write about.

So, without any thought about making money out of this enterprise, I started this blog, the original Ranting and Raving Blog, so that I could write about what I wanted to write about, whether it was some legislator that irked me or a TV show that I liked.

And most of the time, I have absolutely no idea what I will be writing about until I actually sit down at my computer and do it, which makes it even more interesting.

Look, I don’t have hundreds or thousands of followers, and I really don’t care about that; keeping it small suits my purposes here.

I know that at least dozens of people read this blog every weekday, whether at the blog site or on Facebook, and honestly, that is good enough for me.

It has been a fun ride, and right now, it is a ride that is going to continue into the sunset.

I really enjoy writing these entries each and every weekday morning, and after more than 2,800 entries—the current 2,888 is pretty much a very good approximate, because there was a time that I would occasionally not put numbers on the entries and then there was a time where the numbering was screwed up by me—there is no reason to think that the blog won’t get to 3,000 entries or better in due time.

Right now we are pushing for 2,900 entries, which should happen later this month.

And it has been a real fun ride for me.

I mean, little did I know what happened to me nearly three years ago,, although I kind of figured that it was going to happen sooner or later.

For a spell, this was the only writing I was doing, so it kept me going during that really bad time in my life.

And conversely, who knew that I would get back in the saddle with my side job, and that to an extent, I would be right back where I started from (not monetarily, but that seems to be the story of my life, anyway)?

And I want to also thank you, my readers, for keeping me going, too.

Your likes and your comments are always appreciated, as are your dislikes and thumbs down, as long as you do it civilly.

I do believe that “we can agree to disagree,” even in a world that seems to have chosen up sides: “I am right and you are wrong.”

That is just so wrong, but that seems to be where we are today in this country and this world, and the wall separating us is getting larger and thicker by the day.

If we can have our own opinions, be able to state those opinions with simply a give and take of views, and do it in a civil manner, that is all we need to get by.

We also need to have thicker skins about certain things, and we also need to be able to laugh at ourselves and our human foibles.

And that is why I enjoy this blog so much, because I don’t pull any punches here; I say what is on my mind, and you can agree or disagree with me.

But I am going to say what is on my mind, even if it rubs people the wrong way.

This is my blog, and if you are looking for PC or woke thoughts, please go elsewhere, because you are not going to find such thoughts here.

We are all human beings, and I don’t think that we are that much different from each other … and I hope that the Ranting and Raving Blog brings that out in the entries each day … whether you agree with me or not.

Thanks for tuning in, and right now, it’s time to go to the virtual dance floor and do the hora

So let’s go …

And shake, shake, shale … shake, shake, shake … shake your booty!
