Rant #2,390: Girl of My Dreams

Twenty-six years ago, in 1993, I married the girl of my dreams.

Yes, today is my wedding anniversary, and I still have to pinch myself to realize that no, I am not dreaming, I am really married to this fantastic woman.

She is the greatest thing that ever happened to me, or ever will happen to me.

So how do I honor this great lady, the mother of our son and to me the greatest woman on the face of the earth?

I have talked about how we met many, many times--through what is now referred to as an "old-fashioned dating service"--and how the service finally, after setting me up with a few girls that I did not like, asked me exactly "what I liked," and they hit the target squarely.

I have talked about our high points, our low points, and our everyday points, so I wondered this time around, what could I do here to best highlight my wonderful wife.

Well, since a picture is worth a thousand words--or so they say--I decided to create what amounts to a photo essay, and thus, there are plenty of photos on this page today, mixed in with a lesser amount of verbiage.

When we got married, we were in our 30s, and now we are in our 60s, and I guess you can say that we are growing old together.

But "old" is a funny word, and can mean a lot of different things.

We are both 62, and while I don't feel as spry as I did when I was 32, I still feel pretty good.

If you saw my wife in person, you would never believe that she was 62.

She takes care of herself, she has a healthy spirit, and top to bottom, she defies what a woman of 62 should be or look like.

She really is the girl of my dreams, and I cannot believe that I was the lucky guy who married this lady; I feel that I am the luckiest guy on the face of the earth when thinking about how I hooked up with her.

So enjoy the photos, they do speak volumes.

And to my wife, well, what can I say.

Happy anniversary, I love you to pieces, and since we've been through 26 years, how about at least 26 more?

Heck, dreams do come true.
