Rant #2,200: I Just Want To Celebrate

Today is a celebration of such for the Ranting and Raving Blog.

We have reached 2,200 posts, give or take a few here and there.

There was a numbering error some hundreds of posts ago, and then, early in this blog's history, I would put up posts without numbers, or as second parts of other posts, so all told, there are actually, probably, more than 2,200 posts here, but for sake of argument, this entry is the 2,200th in the blog's history.

I have to say that over the past number of years, putting together this blog each and every day has been fu, it has been arduous, it has been easy, it has been difficult--sometimes all at the same time.

Sometimes I have plenty to say, other times I don't have as much.

Sometimes I cover topics that are "top of mind" for all of us; other times I cover things that nobody would know about if I didn't bring them up.

I do talk some politics here ... it is really a slippery slope when you talk politics, in particular during these times when the country seems so divided on certain topics.

I once vowed never to talk politics again on this blog, but since politics seems to permeate everything we do and say and experience in today's world, the subject is almost unavoidable.

And even though some people take offense at what I say, notice that I have never, ever said that I am right, that I am correct, in what I say.

It is my opinion, and whether we like it or not--and some people in this very PC world don't like it at all--we do have our own opinions on just about every subject under the sun.

And we have a right to those opinions.

I am a New York Yankees fan, have been one since birth and will go into my grave many years from now as one.

You might be a New York Mets fan. That is fine with me, but putting that politically, some people get completely hysterical when you take a different side to theirs in that forum.

They take it almost as if you are deriding their very heritage.

That is the wrong stance to take, but again, we live in a PC world, full of mind control and full of people being lead around by the ring in their noses.

You will never get that at the Ranting and Raving Blog.

I say what I say, you can like it or not, you can reply if you like, you can tell me that I am wrong, and that is all fine with me.

However, when it gets nasty, when it gets personal, that is where I draw the line, and you won't find that here at the blog.

Look, I write this blog as another writing outlet for myself.

I do not make a penny from this blog, and that has never been my intention here.

I do not need thousands of followers, either.

This is just my little, comfortable place to talk about whatever comes to my mind, and write about it when I want to write about it.

If one day I want to write about some comfort food, I will do it. If the very next day, I want to write about a political situation, I will do it.

I am the one who determines what I write about, and with a blog like this, that is the way it has to be in order for the blog to survive, and to thrive.

Through 2,200 posts, I have written about so many subjects, often stuff that you won't see covered anywhere else ... and I am sure you think that many of the subjects shouldn't be, anyway.

But I have fun with the blog, and that is why it has become so much darn fun to come here and write about anything I want to write about.

The shackles are off here, and I can write about anything.

Every professional writer like myself loves the opportunity to write about anything, and this blog gives me that opportunity.

So keep on coming here, you have chosen a great place to visit for a few minutes each and every day.

I will speak to you tomorrow, and many tomorrows after that.

This is just so much fun, why stop?

Onward to 2,300 and beyond!
