Rant #1,784: I Wanna Wear Your Shirt

Today, I was faced with a dilemma right from the get go, one that I haven't been faced with in a while:

What shirt to wear to work today.

I am far from being a fashionista, and I could care less about what I wear. As long as I feel comfortable in the clothes I wear, I am fine.

And with my color blindness, I often mix colors that don't match, but that is how I am.

But today, I had a problem--what shirt to wear?

The problem stemmed from our washer and dryer situation at home.

Our old washer and dryer died two weeks ago, just went to the grave after just about five years of use.

The duo was a lemon from the get go, and I can't tell you how many times we had the repairman at our home trying to figure out what the problem was.

One time it was the lining of the door, another time the pipes weren't working, and there were other times and other reasons for the thing not to work.

Finally, two weeks ago, the whole system gave out, and it was really good riddance, because we had basically had enough with this system anyway.

We went out to find another washer and dryer, went to a local electronics place, and Voila!, we bought another system.

The system had to be installed, which took another few days, and in between, we had been doing washes in my mother's units downstairs.

Lugging the wash up and down the stairs became a chore, but we managed, not doing the wash as often, but washing bigger loads.

Finally, our new system got hooked up, but we were told that the vent had to be redirected, from the attic to the roof.

So this has caused more consternation, because now we can't use the dryer until this is done, probably next week.

So what this has led to is that we are again not doing as many washes, just larger ones.

And thus, I opened up my closet today, and I was without a clean shirt to wear.

Our old system actually ate up some of my shirts, literally, spewing them out with holes and cuts in them, so a few of the shirts I would normally wear are out of commission forever.

The wash needs to be done, but we are holding off since the dryer can't be used.

So that left me with nothing, or virtually nothing.

Finally, sifting through some shirts, I finally found something.

I think it is one of my father's old shirts. It is short-sleeved, which I like, but it is missing a button on the bottom, which is not noticeable to anyone but me.

It fit OK, although I did have some trouble closing the top button around my neck, but it will do for today.

I think this weekend, amid everything else I need to do, I have to buy myself one or two new shirts, so I have a choice of shirts to wear for work.

As I have stated previously, I hate to wear ties, but that is our work uniform, so I have to go with the flow.

But I need a better flow of shirts to wear, and since wearing shirts with holes in them caused by our previous washer and dryer is not fashionable right now, I need some shirts I can rely on.

Me buying shirts? I have done it before, and I guess I am going to have to do it again.

Walmart, here I come!
