The day has finally come, the day when the madness will end.
We vote for our next President today, and is it going to be Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton?
Both stink, to be honest with you, but personally, I am going to vote for the lesser of two evils, and hold my nose while I do it.
But at least I will have voted. It is something that as American citizens, it is our obligation to do.
I am going to go back to a previous Rant--from November 3, 2009--to express my feelings about the importance of this process.
I will update that Rant as necessary, but by and large, it is exactly what I said six years ago, and still believe in today.
"It is important that everyone gets out and votes today.
So many people take being a citizen of this country for granted, but one of the few things that you really should do to show your love for this country is to vote, even in an off-year, which this year is not.
I think it is your civic duty to vote. I know, you say they get you for jury duty off the voting rolls. That may be true, but that is your civic duty too.
I know so many people who don't vote. They don't think they know enough about the candidates to make a good choice, they say, it is too time consuming, and they don't think their vote counts.
I say "poo" to that. One vote added to thousands of other votes equal a lot. If you don't know about who is running or the issues, get a newspaper and read up on it. As for time, the polls are open all day. I was there at 6 a.m. this morning. You don't have to do that, but you can do it, and do it after work if you need to.
So get out and vote. Do it for yourself, your family, your kids, and your country.
Yes, I know that is kind of pollyanna-ish, but it is something I have done since I was 18 years old--I have never missed a vote, during election years or non-election years.
It is an easy duty to fulfill, so go ahead and do it."
Yes, go ahead and do it.
And for this very important election, I do believe that every vote will count.
Let's see who wins this thing. I think it is going to be closeasthis.

Larry, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be thisclose, and I'm pretty sure I'll be celebrating tonight. But it will be a very interesting night.
ReplyDeleteWe shall see.
ReplyDeleteHe's set to lose states Mitt Romney won, his path to 270 is very, very narrow. They're going to call the election by 11:20, and there will be joy in the Javits Center.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that it was as cut and dry as that. You are sounding more and more like a Dewey supporter, and we remember what happened to him.
ReplyDeleteNever count your chickens before they are hatched. I always say that, and Robin, I guess you were way too cocksure yesterday. What do you have to say now?
