Rant #1,654: It Was a Fun Weekend

... And a fun weekend I did have.

As I mentioned on Friday, as I work for the weekend every week, most of the time, it is just for relaxation, to get away from the grind of work for two days.

But this weekend, I had some things planned that were going to make it a real fun weekend.

On Friday evening, I met with the group I call "The Rochdale Boys Club," named after the place where we all grew up, Rochdale Village, South Jamaica, Queens, New York.

It was a brand new development way back when, the largest such cooperative development in the nation at the time, and there were seemingly thousands of kids my age who moved there with their parents, watching the development rise from the ground before our very young eyes.

All these years later, you can find people from Rochdale living from Maine to Hawaii, and every place in between, as well as overseas.

Due to the death of one of our compatriots a bit more than a year ago, a group of us decided to try to meet every couple of months, just to go over where we were, where we are now, and where we are going.

It is fun meeting up with old friends. Even though some of us have not spoken in decades, we fall right into place, and talk as if we never left.

And one of us hasn't, as he came back to Rochdale to live, which is amazing unto itself.

What comes around goes around, I guess, and it was nice meeting with him and the others once again, even though these lousy photos cannot possibly tell you how much fun I had with the boys.

On Saturday morning, it was Record Store Day, and again, I came away with a pretty good haul of stuff, although the prize that I was looking for--and still am looking for--eluded me.

It seems that the Monkees single that I wanted was earmarked for the store I went to, but the boxes it came in were lost in the mail.

I have a rain check, and if and when they do come in, the store will contact me, and I will purchase this thing, but I was a little disappointed that I could not get my hands on this thing on Saturday.

Nonetheless, to soothe my soul, I bought several other things, some attached to Record Store Day--releases by David Bowie, the Animals and the Easybeats--and some not--a couple of vintage singles with picture sleeves, and even an Allen and Rossi LP!--so it wasn't a total disaster after all.

And on Sunday, I rested ...

So it was a good weekend all around, and now, it is time to go back to work ...

And back to work on me, as I have a problem in my mouth that needs addressing.

So I won't be here tomorrow.

Pray for me as I undergo whatever they are going to do in my mouth to make me feel better.

Right now, I have a crevice in my tooth that feels like the Grand Canyon to me, and I am not a happy camper.

So keep me in your thoughts, and I will be back here by hook, crook, crown or root canal on Wednesday.

And that's the tooth!

(Again, I could not resist.)
