Rant #1,900: Celebration

Well, at long last, we have reached another milestone at the Ranting and Raving Blog.

A little after seven years of putting this blog together, we have reached the 1,900 mark in Rants.

When I started this thing, I could not have dreamed that I would have 1,900 things to say, but alas, I guess I did.

To me, this blog has been revelatory, therapeutic, and most importantly, a fun thing to do five days a week, 52 weeks a year.

It has given me an outlet to say what I want to say, cover what I want to cover, and look into things that I cannot do with my paying writing job, which covers military exchanges (department stores) and commissaries (supermarkets).

I have been doing the paying job for over 21 years, and how many times can I write about soft drinks, sports nutrition and tactical matters?

Over and over and over again since 1996, but here, since 2007, I can write about whatever I like.

I has become so part of my day during the week that I don't even give it a second thought--get up, get ready for work, eat breakfast (clean out the dishwasher first, lest I forget), and then sit down and write.

And again, the fun aspect has to be there too. Without that fun aspect, the writing becomes a chore, like it has become at work, and I do it, but it is almost robotic.

Not here.

I am not saying that every topic I cover and every Rant I write is of the highest caliber, but I do try to make the entries interesting, and I do cover a lot of different stuff, everything from politics to baseball to, well, Col. Sanders as a sex symbol (see yesterday's entry for more details on that).

And finally, I want to thank the people who keep on coming back here to read what I have to say.

You are loyal, vigilant, and while you don't always agree with me, that is fine. As long as it is not nasty, the comments I get--both here and on Facebook, where I do put up the blog, even though it cuts down on hits here--do provide food for thought.

And now that some of the entries will be on Evo News, I am simply spreading the peanut butter a bit further.

And I repeat something that people constantly ask me: no, I don't make a dime off of this blog. Yes, it is monetized, but for me to make any money, I would have to get thousands of hits, which I don't get, so no, this is not a moneymaker for me, not is the Evo News gig, where the same thing applies.

I do this for fun, to get my mind going for the day, and in a way, that is better than money.

So, thanks once again for visiting here. I really appreciate it, and please, come again.

I expect to hit the magic 2,000 Rant mark sometime during the holiday season this year, and I have no intention of giving this thing up anytime soon.

Why would I, when I am having so much fun doing it?

Speak to you again tomorrow.
