Rant #1,898: Changes

Not really, but let's say, I am trying to extend the Ranting and Raving Blog to areas that it has never been to before, and trying to get people to see it who have never seen my writing before.

Yesterday actually was the eighth anniversary of this blog, which I started back in May 2009 because I was frustrated with writing about the same subjects at work day in, day out, and I needed an outlet for the other stuff that I wanted to say.

The blog is in its second life, because the original blog was hacked, so I just continued the blog as if nothing had happened, but of course, it did, and that is why you see two entries each weekday: a new, fresh entry and a "Classic" entry.

One day, the original blog will come down off the Internet, and while I did not see any hacking activity at that blog the last time I visited, I would warn you to stay off the original Ranting and Raving Blog, because I don't want anybody to cave into the hacking.

Anyway, as far as an extension of what I am doing, I got an interesting call yesterday from Evo News, and new web only outfit based in England.

I had applied for a job as an editor there, and while I did not get that job, Evo News was interested in me as a freelance writer, and I said that I would give it a try.

The best thing is that as I do here, I can write about anything there, and if it isn't virulent or inciteful or vicious, they will consider it for publication over there.

So, a few of my Rants here will wind up over there, too, maybe in slightly different form, but yes, I am trying to expand my reach a bit.

I submitted my first entry yesterday, the Michael Nesmith piece I wrote earlier in the week. I figured that that would be a good way to start, with an entertainment book review.

I only have to place five articles a month with them to keep things going, and since I write about 20 articles here each month--give or take a few--I figure it won't be difficult to reach the magic five level.

And yes, I did check with them, and they said I could, in fact, use blog entries here over there, so that is just what I am going to do.

If you are interested, please visit https://evonews.com/; I think you might be interested in the amount of content on this site, and you will see my material posted there, too.

And yes, there is a possibility that I can make some money off of these posts, but it is complicated, and honestly, like over here, if I don't make a dime, I really don't care.

It is called exposure, and exposure to me is worth more than money ... and being on the site is another feather in my cap as I am looking for a job, so in the long run, it could help me in my job search.

Heck, I will try anything at this point.

So happy birthday to the Ranting and Raving Blog, good luck to me at Evo News, and I will speak to you again on Monday.

Have a great weekend!
