Rant #2,139: Bits and Pieces

I am back ...

This has simply been an impossibly busy week for me, and we are only just starting Wednesday.

Doctors, car dealers, running around town ... I just want a day where I just get up, do what I have to do, go to work, grind that out and then go straight home ... but it isn't happening this week.

I have two more doctors to visit--today and tomorrow--and then, finally, on Friday, I will have the weekday that I crave ... only to go right into a very busy Mother's Day weekend.

So with that being said, there are a few stories going around that I feel I need to say something about, but I certainly don't want to spend a while column talking about.

And no, I don't want to talk about the beyond-and-way past-15-minutes-of-fame Stormy Daniels at all, but since she simply cannot get out of the news, I figure a nice picture of this individual might be some good eye candy for the morning. So yes, I am being a hypocrite for putting her photo up and keeping her on the blog's radar, but here she is, in almost all her glory.

OK, now that that is out of the way, let's talk about some other things.

President Trump Scuttles Iran Deal: Our president kept to his promise and got us the heck out of this very bad deal, a deal that we should never have gotten into in the first place.

First off, sitting down at the bargaining table with some of the most heinous terrorists in our current world was a reprehensible act to begin with, and bowing down to their demands was even worse.

The deal did not prevent Iran from building up its nuclear arsenal, which, or course, was supposed to be the prime direction of any deal with them.

And what's worse, people forget how Iranian leaders scoffed at the U.S. and its other partners in this deal right after it was signed, basically shoving the deal down our throats.

Pulling out of the deal does not mean that the deal is dead, because several other of our former partners of the deal are still in it, so the deal is in place. It just means that we aren't a part of it.

It also does not mean that since we aren't part of the deal, we have completely turned our back on Iran and its nuclear arsenal. Our country will work to secure better safeguards against this terrorist country, better safeguards that will completely clamp down on Iran, not brown-nose that country.

Let's be honest about it; the core of the deal was not tough enough on Iran, and something stronger is needed to prevent them from setting off a nuclear incident in that part of the world.

This deal was not it, and we are better off getting out of it.

New York Yankees Win Again: Let me tell you, as a life-long Yankees fan, it is so much fun watching the Bronx Bombers take out one team after another during this current streak, 16 wins in their last 17 games.

They beat their greatest rival, the Boston Red Sox, 3-2 last night, and are now tied for first with the team from Beantown.

Just a few weeks ago, the Yankees were thought to be the most overrated team in baseball. They began the season at .500, nine wins, nine losses, while the Red Sox were 17-2.

Then the Yankees went on this run, where they seemingly can do no wrong. Their veterans are winning games for them, their rookies are too, and they often have a starting lineup with all players 25 years of age and younger.

And while they aren't pummeling teams--and while not all of their players are having career years--they are finding ways to win, which is the characteristic of any good baseball team.

If the Yankees can win tonight's game against Boston, they will take over first place, thought to be a highly unlikely occurrence just a few weeks ago.

Yes, it is really, really early in the season, but I have to say that the Yankees look every bit as good as they were predicted to be. Let's see if this can continue at this pace.

WWE Comes to the Nassau Coliseum: With so many arenas in the New York Metropolitan area, it is a really rare treat when the WWE finds its way to the newly refurbished Nassau Coliseum, but that is just what happened on this past Monday.

My son and I were in attendance as part of the crowd of probably about 14,000 or more fans of all ages, and we had a good time.

The basic tenets of professional wrestling have not changed one bit since I started watching it back in 1965 or so--good versus evil--only the players have changed.

What has changed is that the wrestlers are more athletic than they were back then, and they are more family friendly than they were 50 years ago.

Without the real circus anymore, the WWE is the 21st century version of this type of event, and it is incredible how many young kids go with their parents to see this show, as if it were the Ice Capades or the like.

My son really enjoys pro wrestling, and for me, it kind of makes me a little kid again too.

To commemorate that, I even was able to get a Bruno Sammartino T-shirt, honoring the greatest pro wrestler of all-time, at the show. The shirts were put out after Sammartino died a few weeks ago, and I will wear it some time this weekend.

Personal Anniversary: Today, May 9, is a very special day in my life, as it is the 48th anniversary of my bar mitzvah, the day I became a man in the Jewish religion.

I have talked about it at length in this Blog on numerous occasions: how sick I was, the uplifting feeling I got from watching Willis Reed limp out to the court en route to the New York Knicks winning the NBA championship, how I barely got through my haftorah, so I won't go through that all again, but just let's say that it was one of the most incredible days of my life, probably just behind my marriage and the birth of my kids in importance.

(My bar mitzvah party was actually two weeks later, but the actual religious ceremony took place on May 9).

And it was 48 years ago ... really, really hard to believe that it happened so long ago, but it did.

Update On My Job Search: Well, to illustrate to you how well this is going, I actually had a phone interview last week, but the person on the other end could not decide whether the job was a full-time or part-time one.

Their phone system was also really bad--I had to call them four times to get through, as there was no prompt to simply speak to someone to direct my call--and in my estimation, I am probably better off where I am than with this rinky dink company.

Yes, woe is me, as the end of the road keeps getting closer and closer.

Well, that is all I have to say, but, well, Stormy Daniels is not done yet with this column.

As she hangs around the news--and I swear, if she looked like Olive Oyl no one would care--she also hangs around here, so here is another mild photo of her.

If you want something a little s(t)eamier, something more to her true silicone-enhanced character than what I am going to show you, believe me, you don't have to look very far to find what you want.

Here, this is a PG-rated blog, so I am not going to go there.

Speak to you again tomorrow.

  1. now That the US won’t honor the deal, Iran is poised to attack Israel. ‘Nuff said. https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/syria-tensions-explosions-reported-near-damascus-1.6072130

  2. And. If this is, in fact true, we all know that Israel can defend itself. 'Nuf said.

  3. I’ll remind you of that in a few weeks, when you’re kvetching about paying $4 for a gallon of gas.

  4. What ... are you talking about the Yankees or Stormy Daniels? Quite frankly, your anti-Trump posts are getting awful tiresome, as is your anti-Israel stance that you continually take (although you claim to be a supporter since you are so active in your synagogue). And furthermore, drop the "Anonymous" tag already. We all know who you are, and you are not fooling anyone. Give credit where credit is due for once. That pact was utter Obama-PC-anti-Israel-anti-U.S. nonsense, as Iran has been lying on a daily basis with what it is doing with its nuclear arsenal. And you just know that if Israel wanted to, it could remove Iran from the face of the earth, but it chooses to show restraint. Stop your phoniness, give credit where credit is due, and go write your blog column or do something else. You have the perfect right to voice your opinion here, as do I, and I have voiced it.
