Rant #1,691: Ladies First

Congratulations to Hillary Clinton for winning the Democratic Party's choice as our next President.

She is the first woman in our history to gain the top spot, and she will always have that on her resume, win or lose in November, and that is an accomplishment that must be noted.

But beyond that, I have to give her the raspberry.

I wouldn't vote for her if she were the only person running.

She is a liar, a schemer, a possible felon, and she, at least to me, is nauseating.

Her opponent isn't much better, and while I am not taken by Donald Trump, I told you weeks ago that I was going to give my support to him come November.

Would I ever vote for a woman President? Sure I would, but not this woman.

What women would I vote for other than Hillary Clinton for President?

Let's see ...

I would vote for Golda Meir, if she were still alive. Now that was some lady ... even though she was basically the world's grandmother, she was one tough cookie, leading Israel during some of its most turbulent times.

Who else?

I would vote for Petula Clark. I always liked Petula and her music, and even though she was British, I would bend the rules for her. Heck, a singing President is better than a lying one.

Ditto for Julie Andrews. I would vote for her in a minute.

How about Dana Tyler and Mary Calvi, probably my favorite newscasters on local television, here in New York on WCBS-TV? Not only are they smart, they light up any room they are in with their beauty.

I would probably vote for Ann-Margret too. She is a beautiful woman, and our country could use a beautiful woman to run our country. And since she shares the same birthdate as I do--not the year, just April 28--it just would make the whole package better.

Ditto for Kate Upton, who I sometimes can't take my eyes off of. Sure she is young, but when you are talking about Kate Upton, who cares?

I would also vote for all of those pinup models that I get contacted by here and again on Facebook. While they are probably not top heavy in political knowledge, they are top heavy in other areas that would make up for shortcomings anywhere else.

My wife is very apolitical, although we do share many of the same beliefs about who should be running our country. I love her dearly, but she has too many other things to do that are just as important as running our country. And honestly, I don't think I would be a good first man, or what would they call me, FMOTUS?

But let's be honest about it. All of these are basically pipe dreams, because for one reason or another, these ladies either can't run or won't run.

Thus, it comes down to this woman ...

My mother.

She is in the Golda Meir mode right now, a grandmother to five kids who, at 85, has as much spunk and resilience as a woman a third of her age. She is sort of apolitical/political, but she has definite ideas about how things should be.

And when was the last time you told an 85 year old woman no?

Yes, I would vote for my mother for President if I could.

Sorry Hillary, you will never get my vote in competition with my mother.

And the other side, for that matter, won't get it either if you were pitted against mom.

Heck, maybe I have just started a new campaign ...

Grandmother Lapka for President!

It could catch on, you know ... .

Speak to you on Monday, after I convince my mother to run.

  1. You know, the first part of the rant was legitimate political criticism. I don't agree with you, but yes, your criticism is within the realm of normal political discourse. The end, where you salute your wife and mother, was sweet. The middle? Well, I am amused that you were so strong about supporting a dedicated socialist named Golda -- she happens to be one of my personal heroines, loved her brand of Socialist Zionism. But all those other ladies? It's chauvinistic and immature, and detracts considerably from any legitimate political discourse.

  2. Yes Songbird, his salute to wife and mother was sweet disgustingly so, but notice it was libido before wife and mother. What do you make of that?

  3. Jim bo, since I actually know and like his wife and mother, I don't think I want to get into that kind of discussion with you.

  4. It was all done tongue in cheek, something that many liberals do not get today. Liberals take things way too seriously. I was just having some fun with the subject. A political rant? No, not really at all. I take swipes at both sides here. The middle ladies ... not libido at all, but just fun, fun, fun. Please, come off your clouds and just see that it was written all in fun. Nothing more, nothing less. But I also understand that tongue in cheek writing has no place in our current PC world, so you guys obviously did not get it at all. Lighten up a bit, and you will be better off.
