I am not a great photo taker, which puts me smack dab in the right age in photo taking. With today's digital photos, if you don't like a photo, you can simply get rid of it and take another one.
And believe me, I need that feature, because many of my photos aren't very good.
But sometimes, I do get a really good photo, and that is what I am going to talk about now.
During the recent cruise my family and I took, I took probably about 300 photos, many of which I put up on Facebook, and I think I put a few up here, too.
They all captured the moment, and bring back good memories of the trip that I took with my wife and son.
But I also took photos with my wife's phone and iPad, and some of those photos I had forgotten about, including this one.
It shows my wife at her most relaxed, on the beach, I think in the Bahamas, and just having fun doing not much of anything.
My wife put this photo up yesterday, and I had not seen it before.
It is a good photo, but what is that little blotch on the bottom?
It is my finger, naturally.
As I said, I am not the Annie Liebowitz of family photo taking.
My wife put the photo up on Facebook, and I fell in love with the snapshot immediately. I have a good looking wife, both inside and out, and I think this picture showed that.
But that thing on the bottom; how could I get rid of it?
So I went about doing that.
Using a Mac, I used the Grab feature, which allows you to take a .tif image off your screen.
I simply put up the photo on my screen, and using Grab, took the portion of the photo I wanted, and saved it to the desktop.
And Voila!, I had what amounted to a brand new photo.
It is the best I could do, and as you can see, I think it came out pretty well.
I posted it on Facebook, got a good response, and it really made my day.
This is my new favorite photo of my wife, and it just brings me back to our cruise--and we can't wait to plan our new one soon.
And on another note, I am really blessed.
I have been married to this wonderful woman for more than 22 years, and I know God was looking down at me when he paired us together.
I feel I am the luckiest guy on the earth being with her, and seeing this photo yesterday simply lifted up what was shaping up to be a drab day.
With all the ups and downs I have experienced, we should all be as fortunate as I have been.
Cherish your family photos--they are the real treasures that you have, and you cannot put a dollar price on them.
Speak to you again on Monday.
