To prove that things are getting back to normal ...
I began my week yesterday arguing with a medical provider.
What else is new--
One eye or two?
All it leads me to is further aggravation, as I try to work things out with an operator in the Philippines.
It is just so ridiculous that the customer service stuff is farmed out overseas.
My hearing is fine, but half the time, I cannot understand a word that they are saying.
Shame on these doctors for farming out their services to people who cannot possibly help you.
I have a local question, about a local doctor, so this should be taken care of locally.
Is that too much to ask?
Apparently it is.
All that it leads to is that I am one day closer to attending my daughter's wedding.
Yes, the countdown has begun.
At least we will have something to do on Halloween.
Even when we were living in the house, in recent years, we never got anybody coming to trick or treat.
We would have candy, but no takers.
Now, living in a retirement development, we have absolutely nobody coming to us on Halloween.
This year, the development is actually having a Halloween party, but, of course, we will be occupied that day--
With another Halloween party way out east on Long Island.
Tricks?
The wedding is supposed to be so different, but it is actually the same-old, same-old in different costume, so to speak.
Treats?
I don't know yet, I really don't know yet.
Boo on me.
And based on all of that, I will have plenty to report on about the wedding, but you will have to wait until next week for me to post anything.
Maybe I will be surprised, and it will be something memorable, in a good way.
Maybe I will not be surprised in the least, and it is what I think it is going to be.
Maybe I am simply spooked about this whole thing.
It is probably a mix of all of those things.
I don't know her future husband--I met him three times, yes, a total of three times, and each one under trying circumstances, including right after my leg surgery, when I couldn't move out of the bed, when I had to beg my daughter to see me, and during my mother's funeral--so I just hope my daughter has picked the right person to live out her life with.
I haven't met the groom's family--I believe he has a sister, but the mother is deceased and the father has some severe mental problems--so I am as much in the blind about this--no pun intended--as I can be.
And then, the Halloween-themed wedding is just so macabre to begin with, and I still think it makes a mockery of what marriage is supposed to be all about, cheapening it to a childish theme.
Yes, on Halloween, it is really going to be scary for me.
But at least I have a couple of days to breathe before the big day on Saturday.
Breathe ... breathe ... breathe ...
And count to 10.
Slowly.
So I don't blow my gasket just yet.
