Today is June 10, the 161st
day of the year, and I am having writer’s block today.
I cannot think of a single thing to write about.
I have written about plenty this week in the previous four Rants—including the great weekend my family and I had celebrating my 29 years of wedded bliss; my son and his successes and challenges; and the power failures we have been having—we had another one yesterday, by the way—but right now, I am feeling tapped out.
I can tell you what I could write about …
I could write about the hearings revolving about the January 6, 2021 Insurrection in Washington, which are being broadcast, very conveniently, in prime time.
That obvious ploy by the networks to make former President look even worse than he already does should be meted out, piece by piece, to all Americans, because it is something that should never, ever happen again.
It besmirched our country, our democracy, and it certainly made the former president look as bad as he possibly could, alll the while appearing to be egging on the whole thing, bathing in its glory as our nation's values were being attacked.
I cannot think of a single thing to write about.

Whatever good he did in his first three and three quarter years in office—and I do think he did a lot of good, and if history books are truthful, that will ultimately all come out—was trashed in the dumpster by his last three months in office, where he acted like a big crybaby, and his words fueled this entire episode.
He and his minions should be held accountable, even if only for the words they used which were shaped by others into something more by sick zealots looking for a way to vent their mental illness.
As commander in chief, he had every right to repel these imbeciles, but all he did was encourage them on, as if they were the true patriots of our nation.
Sorry, I voted for Trump twice, but never, ever will I vote for him again if he ever chooses to run for office.
And I do mean NEVER.
I could write about the continued and never-ending rise in gas prices, which I have seen with my own eyes and paid for with my own money.
Even with all the tax holidays we in New York State and Long Island have received, the price of gas continues to rise with no end in sight.
The tax write-offs were almost immediately obliterated by a rise in even that price, so the average 24 cents a gallon that we were getting was wiped out in just about two days.
The gas station I went to the first two weeks of this supposed gas tax holiday is case in point.
Just prier to the tax holiday, they were at $4.79 for regular. When the tax holiday hit, they went down to $4.55, which lasted exactly two days.
They then went to $4.75, and two days later, they were right back where they started from, at $4.79.
I checked yesterday, and they were at $4.85 and I will bet that they will be even higher today, leading up to and beyond the $5 mark.
Tax holiday? For who?
I guess it was created to make some legislators look good, as if they were really doing something about this, but let’s not forget their actions come November.
And then there is California ... don't get me started.
I could write about the New York Yankees, who continue to win games they have no business winning and have the best record in baseball.
Last night’s game was a case in point.
They were actually ahead in their game against their usual patsies, the Minnesota Twins, and with their ace Gerri Cole on the hill, it looked like it would be child’s play to win this game.
Then, Cole decided to pitch batting practice, and the first three Twins up to the plate in the bottom of the first hit home runs, the first time a Yankees pitcher had ever surrendered three homers to begin a game in the team’s more than 100-year history.
Cole, who had flirted with a no-hitter his last time out, didn’t last too long, surrendering two more home runs, and the Yankees were down 6-3 after three innings.
And then, showing off their own power, they too joined the home run brigade, powering a few out of the park, and when all was said and done, they had beaten the Twins 10-7.
Will wonders never cease?
Now, you see, I could write about all of those things, but …
I have an early appointment on Monday, so I will speak to you next on Tuesday.
So have a great weekend, during which I will try to think of something to write about the next time we speak.
