I have a question for you
that I am going to ask in a few sentences down, a question that I already know
the answer to.
The answer is just so obvious, yet so sad at the same time.
Yet, I will throw it out to the floor.
Here it is:
Why are the Olympics being held right smack dab in the middle of a so-called pandemic?
Further, why are the Olympics being held in a country where they are going through another major outbreak, and where the virus is spreading among the Olympians, and yes, spreading among those who supposedly were inoculated against this scourge?
The big catchphrase during this entire pandemic is “follow the science,” but once again, that appears to be shoved out of the way in place of another major catchphrase, “follow the money.”
Yes, the only reason that the Olympics is still on—and remember, these are the 2020 Olympics, having been postponed last year due to the pandemic—is that the host country, Japan, stands to lose a bundle of cash if they follow the science and cancel this thing again.
So once again, the green is really more important than the grit, but it is totally unconscionable that they are pursuing these games when their own country is going through a another major wave of the virus.
Japan stands to lose billions of dollars if the games are postponed once again, and they believe that they will also lose the games totally if they push everything back at least another year, that the games will be moved to a safer place in the world if they resume in 2022.
But the majority of citizens of that country are against holding the Olympics there right now, and one of the major sponsors of the games, Japan’s own Toyota, has pulled out of advertising the event in Japan due to the backlash it was receiving for its over-arching participation.
A number of athletes each day test positive for the virus, even though they are supposedly inoculated—inoculated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, perhaps, at least as far as the Americans are concerned, God knows what related to the other teams—and by the time these games begin, you are going to have a tainted event anyway, with numerous participants befallen by the virus.
And the further proof of the pudding is that the games will have absolutely no spectators—none—due to safety protocols.
So if and when the Olympics begin later this week, the whole thing could wind up being an international super-spreader of the virus, and when the participants return home, they are going to be carrying it, and further spreading it—including the more spreadable and contractable variant—throughout their countries.
Is science being followed by the dire need to hold these games because of nothing else than the money that would be lost by the home country if they were postponed again?
As far as I am concerned, the science hasn’t been followed by anyone since day one of this scourge, so why follow it now, more than a year into this thing?
We aren’t following it here, either, opening up way too soon, and not making sure that we kicked this thing to the ground before doing so.
Rates are up in every state in the country, and the supposedly more virulent variant is spreading all over the place … yet you can go the movies, the ballgame, bars, restaurants, everywhere you want supposedly without worry.

And how many of those who get the virus actually get really, really sick from it? And what is the breakdown of people getting the three choices for the shot? Are those getting the one-shot dose as safe as those getting the two-shot dose?
I head one doctor state emphatically on the news last night that those not getting the shot are welcoming themselves to a death wish by not doing so--he literally said that they were "going to die" if they chose not to get the shot.
Panic!!!!!!!!
Then why are we getting back to normal so quickly?
Again, it is a money issue, not a science one, even though the latter has been rammed down our throats to make us believe that any decision made related to the coronavirus has to do with science.
As I have said before, I do believe that the coronavirus exists, but I also believe that we have been lied to by officials of every stripe since day one, and we continue to be lied to in that regard.
And it is not just here and in Japan; this is a true worldwide phenomenon.
They have recently opened up merry old England, even though the variant is spreading like wildfire both there and in the rest of Europe.
I guess money speaks louder than science there too.
I think that all it comes down to is that this scourge is something we are going to have to learn to live with for the foreseeable future.
People are going to get it no matter what, and we can protect our kids as much as we want, but the masks are going to have to go back on when they are in school, simply as a precaution, whether it is a necessary precaution is something that is widely open to debate.
Heck, I hate wearing the masks as much as anyone, but they are also here to stay.
You can wear one or not wear one, that is your choice.
You can get inoculated or not get inoculated, that is also your choice.
You can kid yourselves and get the Johnson & Johnson shot rather than the others, and that is also your choice.
All I ask is that our politicians, our health officials, and our doctors stop beating into our heads that we are “following the science” in everything we do related to the coronavirus.
That is as big a lie as possible.
Maybe if their noses grew like Pinocchio’s did when he told a lie … maybe then they would stop this nonsense …
Probably not.
