Rant #2,591: All Right Now

This is going to be a very difficult Rant to write, even though I have pretty much already written a good part of it.

As we are trying to get back to some type of normalcy in our lives, we have the impeachment trial going on in Washington, and it is just adding to the unsettling environment we are existing in right now.

I have watched some of the TV broadcast of the trial, in particular, yesterday, when the Democrats entered previously unseen by the public video evidence into the proceedings.

It was very unsettling, but what aspect of this chaos did President Trump push, back of otherwise endorse by his words and actions?

I am still not sure if he supported such actions or disdained them, and the burden of proof is on the Democrats to prove that he backed these heinous acts, and thus, did not fulfill his duties as our president.

Here is what I wrote on Facebook yesterday about all of this:

“It is clear to me that the mob that breached the capitol on January 6 took President Trump's words literally, and were out for destruction at any cost.
Did the President actually mean to storm the Capitol with his words?
I seriously doubt it, but rather than praise these imbeciles as the horror was taking place, he should have used more forceful language to get them to stop what they were doing.
If the President was still in office, I would vote to impeach.
Being that he is out of office, I do believe the Democrats have every reason to want him to be impeached and to never hold elected office ever again.
Yes, in spite of everything, President Trump remains extremely popular.
Weighing the two things together, and since he is out of office, I would say that for the good of the country,  ...
You know, I still can't decide for or against impeachment.
His behavior after the election was horrible, his puny response to the insurrection was horrible.
Should he be impeached? I can't yet decide, even though the Democrats and the media have already hung him.
I suspect that if I had a vote, I probably would go back and forth in my head, and vote to impeach.
But I wouldn't know if I made the correct choice.
I just know that as a citizen, I can never vote for him again, and I will vote out each and every incumbent in the coming elections, no matter what party they belong to, because in the end, THEY ARE ALL CULPABLE.”

That is what I wrote, and some supported me, some did not.

Some took me to task, stating that the election was fixed. Others applauded me tor stating what I said, even though in some circles, they warned that I would be lambasted for my opinion.

To answer those who criticized me, I wrote the following:

“I am an independent voter, and I simply put this up for everyone, no matter what their background, to read and to absorb. I think that nobody disputes that these insurrectionists were hell bent for blood, and I think that the media and some of our legislators are harping on that, something that few would dispute. I think that the President won't lose this one simply because they are harping on the wrong thing; I don't think they are going to prove that the President was responsible for these actions. And by the way, CBS's coverage of this is as biased as I have ever seen or heard, also harping on the mayhem while they hang Trump at the same time. Walter Cronkite is turning in his grave right now. And what they are doing, and how they are reporting on this, will backfire, and bring more sympathy to the President. They should know that, but they have their own agenda, and they are staying with it.”

Yes, it is a slippery slope we are currently on, and it gets more slippery each day of this trial.

And to those who think I have taken a strong belt of the juice that the left is serving right now, I replied:

“I respect your comments, but at this point, I don't buy them. And that being what it is, the president's behavior before, during and after the riot was abysmal. He should have seen to it that what happened this time around--the abuse of mail-in ballots--would never happen again. He went a different route, and so did I. He lost the election, take it like a man, and move on ... and maybe run again. Now, he can never run again no matter what happens during the trial, he has doomed the Republicans to be defined by the rioters, and he has given more credence to the Democrats, even though they are hell bent on disenfranchisement and ruining our country. As an independent, I am not married to any party, and honestly, I voted for Trump but I did not agree with many of his policies. I think he took the wrong road with the coronavirus, and he actually lost the election--and the trust of people on the fence for sure--when he contracted the disease himself. Let's move on from what is happening and what has happened, and let's see what the next four years bring. Disenfranchisement is very fresh with the Democrats, and if they continue to push one thing or another to make people feel left out like they have been doing, people will revolt, but in the right way, not the way that they did on Jan. 6.”

You truly cannot win here, no matter what you say.

I don’t know what is going to happen with this trial—I kind of expect that the president will not be impeached and will be able to run for office again if he so chooses—but I do not like what I am currently seeing since Joe Biden became president last month.

I see an increased amount of disenfranchisement, which is what really sparked the “them vs. us” mentality in the first place.

I see this idiotic agenda creeping into the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine, where preference is being given to certain people versus others due to the color of their skin … even though the preponderance of evidence suggests that certain people simply do not want to get vaccinated, so why allocate extra and exclusive resources to them when they are turning their backs on it?

The current buzz phrase, "underserved communities" is being misused; it should refer to any community which cannot get the vaccinations without Herculean effort, no matter what the color of their skin or their ethnic background.

Funny, when I went about two weeks trying to get my nearly 90-year-old mother an appointment, I had the same problems as anyone trying to do the same thing, no matter what their background was, but after calling around to certain sites, I did find that it WAS important that the color of my mother's skin matched these sites' current agendas/

if the elderly--black, white, yellow and brown, all shades and all persuasions--has not been the true "underserved community" since Day One of this pandemic--look at the fiasco that happened in nursing homes in New York for clear evidence, coupled with what his happening now in the dispensing of the vaccine--then no community has been underserved.

I am seeing people being disenfranchised by the dumping on them, as if they were responsible, on past ills that have impacted this nation. This is not payback time, and I doubt the resources and time and effort being used to honor the efforts of one group of people this month will be expended to salute other groups of people during their respective months of honor.

Hitting people over the head and bending over backwards never amounts to anything good, but we are in that time period right now.

Again, I will say this: if “we are all in this together,” let’s really and truly be “all in this together,” and let’s act as a single nation to combat our ills.

It is the only correct way to do it, and the only way that those ills will be corrected for now and for the future.

I have an early doctor’s appointment tomorrow, so the next time I will be speaking with you is on Monday.

Have a great weekend, have a wonderful Valentine’s Day, and speak to you then.

Now, let me go outside and find a solution to my most pressing ill right now, which is to get rid of the snow once and for all!
