Rant 2,486: Short Shorts

Today is going to be a relatively short post, out of necessity.

My father is in the hospital again. We rushed him there during the middle of yesterday afternoon. He was feverish and not himself.

So far, all tests came back good, but they kept him overnight for observation, and since he has been to the hospital a couple of times recently, he might stay in the hospital for a few days so they can see what is causing him to need their care.

But this 88 year old still has a lot of panache. As the day went on, he did seem to get better; he was talking, joking around, eating, going to the bathroom, and was more like himself.

Yes, it was very nerve wracking for my mother, myself and my sister and her husband. We all stayed at the hospital--which is not next door to us, but it is the one my mother trusts the most--until somewhere around 9:30 p.m. or so, so he had been there about six hours when we left.

Hopefully, he will be OK, and I am sure that he will be.

As for me, I have my first day of physical therapy today, which somehow, I will mix into going back and forth to the hospital and taking my son to and from work.

Yes, it is going to be a helluva day, and hopefully with a good outcome--all I care about is my father's health, and I am sure he is going to pull through just fine.

But that being said, I did not sleep very well last night, as my own problem tensed up a bit, leaving me completely uncomfortable. Maybe that is good; maybe at physical therapy, they will see how much discomfort I am in right now.

This has been a time for the books for me since early October. If it is not one thing, it is another, but hopefully, the end result will be positives all around.

The world in general has a lot going on right at this moment, but my own personal world does too--and I really have to attend to those things, and then I can focus in at the world at large.

If I am boring you will a lot of personal talk, then I give you permission--take a hiatus from the column until everything returns to relative normal.

Right now, although I am trying to write about other things, the stuff going on in my world has to take precedence. Just writing this short column today is taking a lot of my energy, but if you have a daily weekday column, you still to it, no matter what.

Anyway, hopefully we can move on from this latest roller coaster ride and get on solid footing as soon as possible.

I hope to put together a better entry tomorrow, when hopefully a lot of things will settle down.

Please give me a pass for today; I am really tired, I am hurting, and I have to take care of some family matters.

Speak to you again tomorrow, and I am sure I will be in a better frame of mind.

I wanted to talk about other things today, but it just isn't happening right now.
