Rant #2,234: Bits and Pieces

Well, yes, the time has come again to look at a variety of stories, but not in a full Rant format because quite frankly, these stories do not deserve such treatment.

As for me, my allergies are killing me today, and I can barely see the screen as I type this out, so if there are any spelling mistakes or usage mistakes in what I write, I apologize for them, and will fix them later today--when I can see better.

Anyway, as Jackie Gleason used to say, away we go ... !

Cory Booker's Kavanaugh Impeachment Talk: I said I wasn't going to write about this subject again, but I had to, to show you just how ignorant, stupid and bottom feeding some of us have become when it comes to this utter nonsense.

Cory Booker, the Democratic congressman from New Jersey who almost assuredly is running for president in 2020, said that he was not satisfied with Brett Kavanaugh being on the Supreme Court, and he was not going to take the possibility of impeachment off the table.

And people cheer this nonsense, and they demonstrate that they are just as ignorant as he is.

As Kavanaugh began his first day as a Supreme Court justice yesterday, Booker was talking out of his backside about impeachment.

Now that Kavanaugh is a Supreme Court judge, the only way he can be "impeached" is if he does something as a judge on our highest court to warrant such an action.

It has absolutely nothing to do with anything that may have happened prior to his appointment, it has to do with his actions as a Supreme Court judge.

But Booker's idiotic followers buy this nonsense.

And in an ultimate case of chutzpah and the pot calling the kettle black, Booker has had his own past history of sexual impropriety, and what makes it all the more worse, he actually admits to it.

Heck, why hasn't Booker been brought up on charges?

Heck, let's impeach Booker!

Yankees Get Thumped By Red Sox: You know, sometimes there really is a God ...

I was so tired last night that I turned off the Yankees-Red Sox American League Divisional Series game when it was only 3-0 Red Sox, and I went to bed thinking that the Yankees, being at home, would mount a comeback and would lead the series 2-1 with the deciding game being tonight in the Bronx.

Well, part of that is true. The deciding game might very well be in the Bronx tonight, and if the Yankees put on another fiasco like they did last night, that will be it for them.

The Yankees ended up getting destroyed, 16-1, by the Bosox last night, and when I heard what had happened just prior to the game, I kind of knew that this was going to be a long night for the Bronx Bombers.

TBS cameras showed that Luis Severino, the Yankees pitcher for the game, had arrived late in the bullpen for his pre-game warmup. Pitchers are temperamental players, and any glitch in their routine can mess them up for their game.

I cannot understand how Severino was late to the bullpen. Did he not know the starting time of the game (7:35 or so)? Did he take a nap? Did he need to use the bathroom?

You would think that someone would have alerted him about the starting time, but when it didn't happen, he was late--

And he seemed late to the game too, as even in the first inning, although he got three outs pretty quickly. the Red Sox had some mighty thumps.

I don't get it, but the Red Sox did, and if they continue to get it tonight, the Yankees are done.

TBS Invented Racial Flap: Yes, the PC Police are coming to take us away, ha ha, hee hee ... .

During the American League Wild Card Game between the Yankees and the Oakland A's, the Bronx Bombers were moseying along, leading the Athletics 5-0 and moving closer to facing the Red Sox with every out.

Masahiro Tanaka was doing really well, shutting down the A's offense, when Khris Davis--he of the 40-plus home runs during the regular season--hit a dinger to make the score a bit closer, knocking in two runs in the process.

Ron Darling, former New York Mets pitcher and one of their current broadcasters who also does TBS playoff games, noted that Tanaka, throughout his career in the U.S.--he is from Japan and played in that league for several years--gives up numerous home runs during each regular season.

"It's a chink in his armor," Darling said, and while it meant what it was supposed to mean for all people with a real brain in their heads--that this was the pitcher's weak point--to others, it was a racial knock, reason for all the sirens to go off, reason for people to perspire and get all choked up and be hot and bothered.

These people, who obviously have no clue what they are talking about, demanded an apology from Darling, because of his audacity at using the word "chink" when an Asian pitcher was on the mound.

Of course, the phrase "chink in his armor" is a well-known phrase, but heck, it just has to be racial and insensitive, doesn't it?

TBS, which still stinks of the Ted Turner Empire PC nonsense--that empire virtually invented political correctness--probably nudged Darling to make an apology, and he did, even though he did absolutely nothing wrong.

What makes this episode even more idiotic is that Darling himself is part Asian/part Hawaiian, and during his run in the big leagues, he was one of the few Asian players excelling at the sport.

How idiotic this whole episode was!

Hurricane Michael Speeds Toward Florida: Well, we have another major weather disturbance to speak about, and that is Hurricane Michael.

The storm is approaching Florida, and people have been warned to evacuate their homes now. Gas is running scarce, and the Sunshine State certainly does not want a repeat at what happened in the Carolinas with Hurricane Florence a few weeks back, when residents were told to leave their homes but many didn't, causing further disruption.

There isn't much more to say about this, other than I hope that the storm isn't as bad as it has been predicted to be, and that people heed the warnings and get the heck out of there while they can.

The window is rapidly closing, and time is very short.

My Current Job Prospects: Nothing much to report, but I keep sending out my resumes, hoping that someone will give me a chance.

But it ain't happening.

And as for my fellow employees ... as you know, we have had a suicide and a death that could very easily be related to the unknown that such a work situation creates, and a few weeks back, one of our younger employees--she might be 50--had a mini-stroke.

She seems to be OK now--her voice was deeper and slurred for a few days, but it seems to have returned to normal at this point--but don't tell me that this uncertainty didn't have some impact on her health, much like it did with the deceased.

It is very, very difficult working in a place where the unknown is so commonplace, but we all have to do the best we can, and we are all doing that.

As for me, I passed my recent physical with flying colors, so I guess I am withstanding the strain to a certain extent.

But it does play with your mind, it really does.

That is it for now. I will speak to you again tomorrow.
