Rant #1,610: Something Hot To Warm You Up
I welcome myself back to this perch after the President's Day holiday.
My family and I were sick the entire time off, so it wasn't much of a holiday or Valentine's Day, but all of us are almost back to normal and getting better every day.
It is going to be in the mid to high 50s today, after enduring below zero temperatures over the weekend.
Go figure.
But if you need something to warm you up, how about a sex scandal, or better yet, how about two of them?
In the New York metropolitan area, everybody is talking about these two scandals, and they add just the right amount of gusto that would even make trash like "Entertainment Tonight" blush.
Well, come to think of it, maybe not, but these two scandals are kind of juicy.
The first involves a guy who has "been there, done that" before, the former governor of New York State, Eliot Spitzer.
During his time as governor, it was found that he was consorting with prostitutes, and what was worse, was using the public's money to do so.
He lost his job, lost his life for a while, lost his family, and was just simply a lost soul.
He returned on radio, bumped around there and on TV for a while, but pretty much lost that, too.
Well, the other day, something happened between him and his latest paramour--a 20-ish Russian woman who was old enough to be Spitzer's granddaughter--and the police want to talk to him about it.
Evidently, Spitzer and this woman--he is in his mid to late 50s, and he had had a two-year relationship with this woman, so do the math, he was probably cavorting with her when she was still in her teens--had had a spat at the ritzy Plaza Hotel, of all places, and he supposedly choked her and cut her on her arm.
The woman refused to press charges, went back to Russia, and left Spitzer to answer to these charges all alone, because she filed none.
There is certainly more to come on this one, but with the Russian lady out of the way, probably nothing will come of it, other than another notch on Spitzer's notorious resume.
The next one is even more vile, and it involves the use of modern technology.
Edward Mangano, the Nassau County, Long Island, supervisor, has been accused of having a phone sex relationship with a comely PR executive.
Mangano is married, of course, and claims that his phone was spoofed, or hacked, with indecent messages directed to this blond and very pretty woman.
The woman also claims to have had her phone hacked into. She claims she doesn't even have Mangano's phone number on his phone, although she has interviewed his numerous times as a journalist.
He denies everything, and she does too.
Of course.
If this does not bring up the sex scandal of a few years back involving Anthony Weiner, I don't know what does, but the two principles in the case claim that their phones were hacked by someone wanting to get back at Mangano.
The police are investigating.
So if the temperature has been chilly for you lately, here are two sex scandals to warm you up.
Nothing may come of either one, but they do prick up your ears, at least, during a time when the Presidential debates are going on, we await the President's choice for new Supreme Court judge, and so many other really important things are happening.
Nothings gets people's interest more than these types of scandals, which have seemingly been going on since formal governments were put in place eons ago.
Sex and politics always seem to mix quite well, and Spitzer and Mangano are just among the very long line of such scandals, where the principles deny everything, but a lot is actually going on behind closed doors.
And in today's world, nothing is sacred, nothing is secret, so there will probably be other such scandals happening soon ... I mean, we are only in the middle of February, and we even have an extra day this year for such a scandal to take place.
Can't wait!
