Rant #1,528: Don't Get Me Started ...

And so it goes ...

Don't get me started on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominations ...

Sorry, I don't buy Janet Jackson and NWA as rock and roll stars on any level, but, you know, you just have to be politically correct in these times, so these two acts are probably in.

Chicago should have been in years ago, but Steve Miller, the Cars, Cheap Trick--a band that I have adored since 1975--and Yes are really borderline.

Chic--sorry, no way.

And where are the bands from the early-to-mid-1960s, like Paul Revere and the Raiders and the Monkees, and singers such as Lesley Gore and Chubby Checker?

Nowhere man, because the man running the place doesn't like this type of music.

Don't get me started on the Yankees being out of the playoffs ...

They really operated on fumes this year, anyway, so should really anybody be upset that their tank of gas ran out against the Astros?

I am. I don't think they did their due diligence during the trading deadline, allowing their then closest competitor--the Blue Jays--to fill every hole they wanted to.

Their reasoning is that they did not want to give up their younger players, which is admirable.

But funny, I didn't see the Blue Jays or Mets give up any of their top young players in the deals that they made, and I don't believe the Yankees would have had to have given up theirs.

It's like real estate--you go for the most and end up settling at a level that benefits all parties.

I simply do not think that the Yankees even pursued that idea, and they paid for it at the end.

Don't get me started at the Hitler art show in Tehran ...

People might laugh at this now, or at least snicker, but I find nothing funny about an art show featuring Adolph Hitler's paintings being shown in Tehran, Iran.

People are supposedly flocking to see these paintings, works from probably one of the most heinous human beings this planet has ever been a party to.

But Hitlermania, if you will, is not just confined to Tehran. In Germany, an actor portraying Hitler has won raves for his performances of this horrible person.

I guess you can equate all of this interest and popularity to the rise of anti-Semitism in the world.

Or perhaps it is just ignorance, more than 70 years removed from the facts.

Whatever it is, it scares and worries me at the same time, and it should do that to all of us.

But knowing my brethren like I do, it won't.

Don't get me stated about working six days a week ...

I have done this for the past three weeks, and it appears that that is finally that.

We have done what we could with what we are working on, and for the first time in a month, I can actually sleep to a normal time on Saturday morning.

It has been hard on me to be doing this, getting into work at slightly past 4 a.m. in the morning and working several hours. I am so busy on Saturdays that this is the only way I could do this, early in the morning.

Last Saturday, in fact, I felt weird in the morning, with the first migraine headache I have had in ages.

I needed two Aleves and two Advils to wipe it out of my system.

Yesterday, my allergies were absolutely killing me, centered in my eyes. I literally drove to work with 50 percent vision in my right eye, which is supposedly my good eye.

Anyway, it appears that this torture is over, where I worked my butt off for the good of the company.

I have not had a raise in going on eight years, so yes, it was for the good of the company.

Don't get me started on when I will return to writing this column ...

Because as usual, it will be on Monday. Speak to you again then.
