Rant #2,500: Do It Again

Yesterday was such a tough day that I ended up oversleeping today.

The good thing is that everything went pretty much OK, so I am happy with that, although yes, I am a bit tired, even with the extra sleep.

But today I have to be up and ready for action, because today we reach a milestone:

We hit 2,500 posts at this blog.

There are actually more than 2,500 posts here, simply because there was a numbering error that I was the perpetrator of that I am still trying to fix, so I am going with the number 2,500, at least for now, until I can fix this thing and make it more accurate.

So let's go with 2,500 posts, at least for right now.

I think that is an accomplishment, and I think that I can pat myself on the back for that, because this is a labor of love for me, and nothing else.

Yes, the site is monetized, but I don't make a penny off of it. Not enough clicks on the ads at the right, but I don't blame anyone for that.

That is not the reason that I write this blog just about every weekday.

I write the blog because, originally, it got me away from my mundane writing at work, where I had to write about certain topics and subjects, and after a while, it was getting boring to me.

I needed another outlet to express myself, and so I decided all those years ago that a blog would be perfect for me, a place where I could talk about anything without restrictions, and I was 1,000 percent right.

It has served me well.

The subjects at the blog have changed a bit. I used to get into politics and such quite a bit more than I do now, but I just find that so very boring that I decided to go with other things, including personal things.

I have chronicled my struggles with unemployment and with my health quite a bit lately, and I could apologize for that, but I am not going to.

Nobody forces anyone to read what I write, so if you do not like a topic, pass it by for that day.

But, or course, I do thank all of you for coming here, or for reading what I write on Facebook, because, again of course, without you, there would be no blog.

I don't need thousands of followers, but the few dozen I have make it all A-OK with me.

And now that I am not working, the blog really is the only place where I can talk about what I want and continue to hone my writing skill.

What I am trying to say is that it is all good.

So here's to me on this special celebration at the Ranting and Raving Blog--

2,500 posts and counting, and no end in sight.

I love it, I really do!
