Rant #1,815: I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself
Today is the first Friday of the new year.
Whoopee doo!
Nothing much is happening in my neck of the woods, to be honest about it.
We are one day closer to our new president taking office, and also one day closer for our current president to not be our commander in chief anymore.
Whoopee doo!
Remember last Friday? Everybody was hustling and bustling around, preparing for New Year's Eve, which, if you are a Mariah Carey fan, was a bust--there is a good joke in there, but I am not going to go down that low this time around.
Whoopee doo!
To me, winter is basketball, and once again this season, New York--the pinnacle of basketball, with the so-called "World's Most Famous Arena"--houses what I call "The World's Most Destined To Fail" team, the New York Knicks. Whatever they do, even if it is right, it turns out wrong. There is a dark pall over this team, and I suspect that it might take this organization at least 60 more years to field a true championship team.
But unlike the Chicago Cubs, the Knicks are not a lovable bunch. They simply stink, period.
And in Brooklyn, well, the less said about the Brooklyn Nets, the better. If the Knicks stink, the Nets reek.
Whoopee doo!
Baseball is right around the corner, thank goodness, but right now, there is no telling if my beloved New York Yankees will be there or be square. And if New York Mets fans are honest about it, they will say the same thing.
Whoopee doo!
What else is happening?
Nothing on the job front, nothing at all. I send out at least 15 resumes a week, and nothing is happening. I am looking into related fields, but I have nothing positive to report yet, other than the job that I do have is still there, as is the company.
How long this will last is anyone's guess, and I don't plan to be around here when the ship sinks … although based on what I have seen on the job front, I might just be here after all.
Whoopee doo!
Gas has gone up in price in my neck of the woods. It has gone up at least six cents in the last two days, and I have heard that we should expect to be paying about a dollar more per gallon for gas this year than last.
Whoopee doo!
But one good thing that has happened that is making me so completely overjoyed that I cannot contain myself is that Google Blogs has no given me the ability to post "special characters" in my blog.
I don't know when this happened, but I just noticed the icon today for this, so I am going to try it out in this Rant.
😯
Pretty neat, but yes, pretty small, so it probably isn't even worth it to use this new ability I have.
I feel like a superhero whose power is so useless that it doesn't even pay to show everybody what I can do that they can't.
Today is a workday, so I must bid you adieu, but I will be back on Monday in full force, the first five-day blog posts for the new year.
I hope you have a good weekend, and see you then.
😂
And yes, as I exit this Rant —
Whoopee doo!

I know, the emojis didn't even come out--another reason to say "Whoopee do!"
ReplyDeleteI see your emojis. Two of them, right?
ReplyDeleteShould be an interesting baseball season. Daily News is reporting that A Rod does not plan to go to spring training with another team, he's going to honor his commitment to be an advisor to the Yankees. Mets are looking good, but then again, who knows?
