Rant #2,631: Picture This

Good morning to you!

It is Friday, April 9, the 99th day of the year.

One more day until No. 100.

How have your first 100 days gone, even though we are just at the beginning of the 99th day and we haven’t gotten to 100 yet?

This has already been a crazy year, but normalcy is just around the corner …

Not because of the presence of a vaccine that could save humanity, but because...

Elizabeth Hurley has presented us with yet another bikini shot of her more than 50-year-old body.

Just look in your Yahoo news feed today, and you will see that this story is right up there with stories like “Teen Charged in Gruesome Crash That Killed Woman” and “Texas Senate Passes National Anthem Bill.”

At least on my news feed it is.

Look, as I have said many times, Hurley is an absolutely gorgeous, but ultimately talent-less, self promoter who knows how to keep her fledgling career going by posting bikini shots of herself at age 50-something … as if when a women hits 40, she is ready to the glue factory.

This is such an old fashioned theme in today’s age, but Hurley must be a throwback, and she has the platform, and the body, to get away with this.

And on today’s news feed, I notice that Hurley has been joined by Eva Mendes, another supposed actress with questionable talent, who is also flaunting her stuff at an “advanced” age.

And this is all news, according to Yahoo.

I mean, as an admittedly red-blooded all-American male, of course these beautiful women are going to catch my eye, and I guess that is their purpose to put up such photos, and, of course, to perpetuate careers that have kind of fallen off the cliff.

Hurley and Mendes aren’t the only women who do this; there are plenty of others who have a read need, desire and need the ego boost to post such pictures, but I guess you can say that at least they haven’t gone the next step … although some of them have posted nude photos, with their arms and hands covering up their business so you are simply click bait for photos that promise plenty but deliver little.

In the old days, such photos were relegated to the gossip pages of the newspaper, like that of Earl Wilson, who once said in his daily column that Barbra Streisand, in whatever outfit she was wearing at the time, had “creamy white breasts.”

At least Wilson was descriptive, and at least his column was well into the meat of the newspaper, not on page one.

Could you imagine if right on the cover of the newspaper, on page one, the headline read, “Wilson: Streisand Has ‘Creamy White’ Breasts”?

Yes, that might have sold a lot of newspapers, but is it news?

Is it news when we have television news shows where just about every story is listed under the “Breaking News” banner, a banner that is only supposed to be used for news stories that are happening as they are spoken about?

Is it news when the media constantly over-covers certain people and events to make others feel guilty for something that they had no part of, and couldn’t possibly had any part of?

Is it news when TV and newspaper reporters don’t report the news, but they give their own opinions about it, becoming part of the news story itself?

Those are questions that are valid ones, ones that are not going to be answered by Elizabeth Hurley and her ilk posing in various stages of dress and undress to further their own personal agendas.

But when one uses the Yahoo news feed as their sole and only source of what constitutes news today, that is a problem, in particular when the first story in your news feed is that Hurley has presented us lucky people with another bikini shot of herself.

I wonder if she got her coronavirus vaccine in that very bikini?

I mean, whoever was giving her the shot wouldn’t have to hunt and peck for a place to put the shot into her arm with such an outfit.

Maybe Hurley’s next bikini picture will be one where she actually gets a vaccine shot in a bikini …

Now that would be REAL news, wouldn’t it?

Have a great weekend, and I will speak to you again on Monday.
