Rant #2,262: My Prerogative

Well, the black cloud hanging over me continues.

You don't know the half of it, or even the three quarters of it, but I will tell you a little bit about my current, personal woe.

If you remember yesterday, I told you about the windshield on my car needing to be replaced, because there appears to be BB gun shots in it on the passenger side.

So yesterday, I scheduled the appointment to have the work done, and have it done today.

First of all, with my insurance company, you have to put in for this work totally online.

The last time I had this done--about six years ago, when I had my other car--you simply called the insurance company, spoke to a human being to set up the appointment, and everything was hunky dory.

Now, you have to go through screen after screen of questions, of putting up your information, and it is truly nerve-wracking, since I did the entire procedure on my phone.

I remember that the last time that I did this, the person who put in the new window told me that it appeared that somebody had been tampering with the window, trying to break into my car through the front window, and this made sense, because another car in the lot at work of a co-worker had just been vandalized, with the culprit doing his work during the day.

So the same guy or group of people also tried to get into my car, but they could not get in.

Now, I am dealing with a BB gun.

Yes, where I work is not safe, even though it is right off a main road, and another reason why I truly need to get another job, but I guess that is another story.

So, let me get back to the main one.

I am entering in all my information yesterday, and then it came to setting up a time and day to have the work done.

I figured that yesterday was not going to be a good day, because I was setting up the appointment on very short notice, to have the work done that very day.

So I chose today, this morning, between 8 a.m. and noon.

I did whatever clicking I had to do, I got a text message saying the workman would text me when he was near my place of work, and again, I thought that everything was hunky dory.

But what I did not realize was that today, November 15, we are supposed to get the first hint of snow of the 2018-2019 winter season, and it is not only a hint, but it is supposed to be pretty heavy, bouncing back and forth from rain to snow to rain pretty much the entire day, and with high winds to boot.

We might get one to three inches of mush by the time this thing leaves us on Friday morning.

I wonder how they implant a window into your car in such weather? Do they use an awning or some other type of covering so the interior of your car does not become a fish tank?

It worries me a bit, and also what worries me is after the car is done, and after work is done today.

The concern that placed my son in his job is having its annual fundraiser, at the California Pizza Kitchen outlet by me, so after work, I am scheduled to go home, pick up my son (my wife is working late and might meet us later), and basically drive all the way back to work.

In the rain, the snow, the wind and whatever else befalls us later in the day.

Are they going to postpone this fundraiser? It is also a mandatory work meeting for my son, so he really has to be there.

So as you can see, due to my own good intentions, I am in a pickle once again, and one not of my own making, to a certain extent.

Yes, this cloud over me is getting darker and darker, and now it is filled with rain and snow.

HELP!
